An Icebreaking with YOU #1
<<Monday Communication Meeting Series>> - Through the Looking Glass: Perspectives that Shape Us (#1)
Background
Every Monday, we come together for more than just a meeting but a moment to connect, reflect, and share stories that inspire us. This week, we started with an icebreaker video, something simple yet deeply thought-provoking.
The video:
What’s after?
The video reminded me of three images:
A mirror that reflects who we are,
A lens that shapes how we perceive, and
A window that frames how we see the world.
I began to wonder: How clean are my windows? Do I see others clearly, or are my judgments clouded by my own assumptions? Often, the flaws we think we see in others are reflections of our own blurred perspectives.
One story shared during the discussion brought this to life. It was from a husband’s point of view:
“Sometimes, as a husband, I’ve learned it’s not about fixing things or explaining. It’s about listening—day after day, even when no solutions are needed. Over time, you unintentionally clean the window for the other person. And one day, they’ll look out and realize something they hadn’t seen before.”
This story stayed with me. It’s a powerful reminder that perspective shifts don’t happen through force or debate. They happen subtly, often through quiet moments of clarity when the “window” is cleared.
What about you? Have you ever experienced a moment where a small action or new perspective helped you see things differently? Let’s share these stories, keep learning, and continue cleaning our windows together.
Feel free to leave a comment—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
